Aspiring soccer stars can set their sights on Nito Soccer Camps this summer. The camp focuses on four components of soccer: technical, mental, physical and tactical. The program is run by Coach Nana, a soccer pro himself who found soccer at an early age and made it his career.

Born in Accra, Ghana, Emmanuel “Nana” Akyen was an orphan by age 5 when he was admitted to the most prestigious soccer academy in Africa, the Right To Dream football academy.

In 2006, Akyen received a full soccer scholarship to attend a college prep school in California. He went on to play college soccer on a full scholarship at Westmont College, graduating in 2014 with a history degree. Today, Akyen plays professional soccer for Alta California Sol in the competitive United Premier Soccer League.

He created his own soccer camp last year and is bringing it to Sun Valley this summer.

Three camps will be offered, two elite performance day camps and one advanced player academy. The Soccer Academy Elite Performance Day Camps are open to kids of any age up to 18 and will be at Sagewillow Fields in Elkhorn from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the option for a half-day camp. The first camp will take place July 8-12 and the second July 15-19. Half-day programs are $219.99 and full day programs are $299.99.

Nito Soccer Academy Advanced Player Night Academy for ages 10-18 will be July 22-26, 5-8 p.m. at Atkinson Park in Ketchum. The program is $249.99 and people who are serious competitive soccer players are encouraged to contact Nana at 805-837-9688 to see if this program is right for them.
