With a full suite of camps and courses, the Sun Valley Community School doesn’t take a break for the summer.
For elementary and middle schoolers on through high-school seniors, SVCS offers classes both inside the classroom and out—sometimes way out—plus chances to hone sports skills.
And, this year, its debuting a trio of new programs catering to kids young and old.
For Harry Potter fans rising to grades 3-6, there is Hogwarts Camp, which blends science with a touch of childhood magic. From creating potions to practicing Quidditch, it’s sure to enchant fans of Harry’s wizarding world.
Or, older students could try the new Middle School Backpacking Experience, which teaches the basics of backpacking— “a perfect opportunity for beginners who are looking to get ‘outside’,” said SVCS Spokeswoman Anneliese Turck.
Looking to get down to business—and get a jump on senior year? Rising 12th graders can enlist in the College Application Boot Camp, where they will complete the Common App under expert supervision during a four-day workshop.
Of course, there’s much more going on, whether you’re interested in kayaking or college prep. The full roster of activities, as well as dates and associated fees, are on the Community School’s website at https://www.communityschool.org/summer-program.
