The city of Ketchum will once again offer an array of youth recreation programs for children entering the third grade and older this summer.

“Safety, fun and life experience in a positive environment are our priorities—we’ve been building strong mountain kids since 1971,” states a press release from the Parks and Recreation Department.

The summer activities programs run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 12 through Aug. 8, with optional Friday Adventures. Activities include tennis, Watch Me Grow garden, golf, swimming, skateboarding, beginner and advanced mountain biking, ball sports, performing arts and the famous Park Rat Frenzy. Some activities do have limited space, so early registration is encouraged.

The programs are divided into two four-week sessions and Friday Adventure days will be available for registration at the beginning of both sessions. Highlights of Friday Adventures include whitewater rafting on the Salmon River, bouncing on trampolines at JumpTime and swimming at Easley Hot Springs.

One four-week session is $230 for two days a week or $460 for four days a week, or $920 for four days a week for the entire eight weeks. A single day of activities is $35. Payment plans and scholarships are available.

Kids of all abilities and interests feel they belong at Atkinson Park during summer because of its 40-plus-year tradition, the accomplished youth leaders and the wide variety of activities. So-called “Park Rats” have belonged at Atkinson Park during summer for over two generations.
