Dancers of all ages, proficiency levels, backgrounds and styles will find something enticing among the offerings of Footlight Dance Centre’s summer camps and workshops. Five sessions covering a wide array of dance education span most of the summer, from mid-June to early August.
All sessions will be held at the dance studio facilities of the Community Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Rd. in Hailey.
Footlight offers two sessions of DANCEcamp, designed for children entering grades two through four. The first session will take place from Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28. The second will occur the following month, from Monday, July 22, until Friday, July 26.
From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day, participants will engage in a plethora of classes, learning ballet, hip hop and tap, exploring dance history and getting creative with craft activities and choreography sessions. DANCEcamp is $200 for the whole week.
Two Cecchetti Ballet sessions will also be offered. Designed for children 9 and older with at least two years prior ballet experience, these workshops will explore in detail the famous Cecchetti method, developed by the eponymous Italian master in the early 20th century.
Classes span levels one through five of the Cecchetti syllabus, and include workshops on character dance.
The first session will take place from June 17-21, and the second from July 29-30. Registration costs $130 for the week.
The Dance Tapestry summer event is a special three-day workshop, held from Wednesday, July 31, until Friday, Aug. 2. Guest dancers and choreographers from Boise companies—including Ballet Idaho, Project Flux and F.U.S.E. Dance Collaboration—will contribute to the workshop, teaching courses in ballet, Pilates, modern dance and hip hop.
Any dancers, from fifth-graders through adults, can register at the junior, intermediate or advanced levels. Prices vary according to level, from $155-$220.
