From left, Jason Miller, Hayden Miller, Claire Miller, Mariel Miller, Gail Wenger, Kate O’Brien, Cardyn Parker and Alisa McGowan were part of a 200-person volunteer contingent taking part Saturday in a valley-wide cleanup sponsored by the nonprofit Environmental Resource Center. According to ERC Executive Director Hadley DeBree, 165 30-gallon bags of trash were picked up along with another 440 pounds of trash collected along Croy Road in Hailey. The Clean Sweep event was the 23rd such trash-collection effort organized by the ERC, which has been in existence for 24 years. “This is a great event because people get together and are excited to clean up. When you drive by trash, its existence is not always readily seen, but when you are in the streets actually picking it up, one realizes how much litter there actually is,” DeBree said. Express photo by Willy Cook
