Turkey Trotters cross the Bow Bridge during last year’s event.

The 16th annual Turkey Trot is coming to Hailey on Thanksgiving, inviting Wood River Valley residents to walk, trot or run through a 5K course winding through the Draper Preserve.

“It’s the perfect way to burn off some calories before you stuff yourself silly,” an ad by the Chamber of Hailey & the Wood River Valley states.

The run begins at 10 a.m. in front of Sturtevants in Hailey, at the intersection of Main and Carbonate streets, and extends up River Street.

Early-bird registration is now open online at haileyidaho.com. Now until Nov. 26, registration costs $20 per person—$10 for those 10 and under—or $50 per family. On Nov. 27 and on race day, prices jump up to $30 per person and $70 per family.

The first 500 trotters who register will receive a special “swag bag,” according to the Chamber website.

This year’s 5K is co-sponsored by Mountain West Bank and Blaine County Title, and proceeds will benefit the chamber’s operations. Typically, the race attracts between 600 and 700 people.
