Frank Alloway faces medical and rehabilitation costs following a stroke.

Frank Alloway, proprietor of the Dirty Beagle Dog Wash in Hailey, had a stroke on Feb. 17 and is recovering after an emergency surgery.

Alloway’s wife, Kate Alloway, is hosting a Gofundme site to raise $10,000 to pay for medical costs and a rental lease so the business can remain open in his absence.

Alloway, 62, worked as an electrician for 35 years before opening the Dirty Beagle. Following the stroke, he was life-flighted to St. Luke’s in Boise where a blood clot was removed from his left carotid artery. Family members say the fundraiser is necessary because Alloway has no health insurance.

“Because of the stroke, Frank is unable to work,” wrote Kate Alloway on the Gofundme site. “With no income from the Dirty Beagle, he has been unable to make the rent payments for the Beagle. Frank is faced with the heartbreaking reality that he may have to close the doors.”

Alloway returned home to Hailey three weeks after the stroke and faces a long road to recovery.

“The medical bills are already staggering and will only continue to grow with the costs of rehab three times a week,” Kate Alloway wrote.

“Frank is the type of person that when asked by someone for help he doesn’t think twice about doing what he can. He has never been one to ask for something for himself.”
