City of Trees Marathon

     Bellevue’s Sara Adamiec, 37, finished her first 26.2-mile marathon run Sunday, Oct. 13 on the City of Trees Marathon course in Boise.

     The Idaho Mountain Express advertising representative was third in the Women’s 30-39 class and seventh overall among the women in 4.18:13. She was 41st overall. Adamiec had placed third in 2.02:57 during the 2018 Sun Valley Half Marathon in Sept. 2018.

     Sunday’s women’s winner was Neva Bergset, 52, of Garden City in 3.50:36, and the men’s winner was New Jersey ultra-marathoner Michael Postaski, 37, in 2.44:08.


BSU club hockey plays Montana State on Friday

     Hailey’s Campion Ice House hosts its first men’s ice hockey game of the season when the Boise State University men’s hockey club skates against Montana State Bobcats Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

     Sun Valley Youth Hockey alums Brandon Benson and Dylan Broman are members of the BSU team that opened its 36-game regular season Sept. 21 with a 3-0 win at Western Washington University.

     Tickets for Friday’s game are $10 adults, $5 for teens ages 13-17, and free for seniors 65-and-older, kids 12-and-under and 17-and-under wearing youth jerseys.

     Benson is a 5-10, 175-pound defenseman and Broman is a 5-11, 150-pound forward for Boise State, which has debuted its season with a 5-5 record. Benson (1 goal, 7 assists) was the third-leading scorer through eight games.

Rotarun Ski Swap is Saturday in Hailey

     The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation stages its SVSEF/Rotarun Ski Swap on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sturtevants in Hailey. A total 25% of sales benefits Rotarun Ski Area.

     Prospective sellers of ski and snowboard equipment and winter gear can now pre-register items online at You can also bring gear to Sturtevants in Ketchum or Hailey on Friday, Oct. 18 from 2-6 p.m.

     There will be a “Fire Sale” for one hour from 4-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Sturtevants in Hailey where all remaining items will be 50% off if approved by the seller. Unsold merchandise must then be picked up Sunday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.


Hole-in-one at Sun Valley

     Pat Bauman carded his third hole-in-one Saturday, Oct. 12 at Sun Valley Resort’s Trail Creek Golf Course. Bauman aced the No. 4 hole, using a 9-iron from 127 yards. Witnesses were Charlie McWilliams and Jim Garrison.


Swanson catches TD pass for Linfield Wildcats

     Former Great Basin Conference “Defensive Player of the Year” Travis Swanson of Hailey’s Wood River High School switched over to tight end from his defensive end position for the Linfield College Wildcats and caught a one-yard touchdown pass during Saturday’s 77-32 Linfield Homecoming football victory over University of Puget Sound in front of 3,200 fans at McMinnville, Ore.
