USSA Spring Series FIS alpine races in Colorado and California last week had 13 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alpine skiers testing their speed and gates in fields of some of the best American skiers of 2019.
SVSEF skiers moved from the Aspen Highlands Spring Series over to Mammoth Mountain, where they raced super giant slalom, giant slalom and slalom April 12-14 in a field that crested at 96 men and 76 women.
Earning top-10 overall finishes were Erin Smith, Cassell Lefevre and J. Bridger Harrison.
Best U-19 class finishes for SVSEF skiers in the USSA/Far West Open Series downhills April 10-11 at Mammoth Mountain were: 8—Falon Hanna. 11—Charlie Snyder. 14—Carly Walther-Porino. 18—William Paquette. 20—Ella Kopplin.

U-21 women: Erin Smith 1-SG (7th overall), 3-SL (10th overall).
U-19 men: Cassell Lefevre 5-SG (8th overall); Bennett Snyder 12-SG, 16-GS; J. Bridger Harrison 6-SG (9th overall), 12-GS; Max Noddings 12-SG, 8-GS; William Paquette 26-SG, 29-GS; Blake Bathum 21-SG, 17-GS; Charlie Snyder 25-SG, 36-GS.
U-19 women: Sage Curtis 10-SG, 35-SL; Falon Hanna 14-SG, 33-SL; Carly Walther-Porino 18-SG, 24-SL; Ella Kopplin 23-SG.
Lightner at Whistler Cup
SVSEF second-year U-14 Maya Lightner finished as the second American, and 17th overall of 101 racers, during the Whistler Cup U-14 girls’ slalom race through 42 Ptarmigan gates Friday, April 12 in British Columbia, Canada.
