Blaine County police officers and firefighters are preparing for the fourth annual “Guns and Hoses” coed slow-pitch softball tournament set for Saturday, June 15 at O’Donnell Park in Bellevue.
Primary sponsor is Boise Mobile Equipment, a company that builds fire trucks and police vehicles. Atkinsons’ Market has donated food for the concession stand.
All proceeds go to fund future youth programs.
“We are a non-profit made up of firefighters and law enforcement coming together to raise money to support local youth,” said tournament organizer Rune Haavik.
Plans call for a single-pitch format starting at 11 a.m. with three games matching police and fire personnel.
Haavik said, “We hope people come out to see their local firefighters and law enforcement play a friendly game, and donate to our cause.”
The firemen and policemen are grateful to sponsors enabling them to give proceeds to charity.
Last year’s sponsors helping provide a $500 donation to the 2019 Wood River High Senior Bash were ESS, Valley Auto Body, Silver Dollar, Mahoney’s Bar and Grill, 7 Fuego and Platt Electric.
