Fairfield’s C Me Later Arena hosts the 11th annual Camas County Rodeo Friday and Saturday, July 12-13 starting at 6 p.m. each evening. There will be a free slack performance Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Fairfield rodeo is co-sanctioned by the Idaho Cowboys Association (ICA), Intermountain Pro Rodeo Association (ImPRA) and Pro-West.
It has offered an average $4,800 in added money each year. Generous contributions from corporate sponsors and community members have helped the rodeo improve and grow over the years.
Providing the stock is King Rodeo Company, the same stock company for the Hailey Days of the Old West rodeo.
Many of the cowboys and cowgirls who competed at the Hailey rodeo will try their luck in Fairfield.
The Camas County Rodeo features rodeo events like bareback and saddle bronc riding, bullriding, barrel racing, team roping and steer wrestling.
Announcer will be Lee Daggett, a fifth-generation eastern Oregonian who is a broker for Wallowa Mountain Properties in Enterprise, Ore. He was ICA Announcer of the Year in 2013, and announced the ICA Finals each year from 2011-14.
Admission for spectators is $8, free for kids under the age of eight. Hometown bullriding entries can call Ann Peterson at 208-539-3565.
