Ketchum mountain bikers Joshua Berry and Joel Brazil were among the leaders during Saturday’s Garmin Dirty Kanza 201.5-mile bicycle race at Emporia, Kansas.
Berry, 28, finished seventh overall with a time of 10 hours, 38 minutes and 40 seconds (18.93 miles per hour) on the challenging Flint Hills course with tasks of 9,000 feet of climb-ing.
The winner out of 870 finish-ers at the 201.5-mile distance was Colin Strickland, 32, from Austin, Texas in a course rec-ord 9.58:49.
Brazil, 51, was the fastest of 115 racers in the Men’s 50-54 class and placed 24th overall in 11.54:53 (16.91 miles per hour).
The women’s 201.5-mile winner in 25th place, right be-hind Brazil, was Amity Rock-well, 26, from San Francisco with a time of 11.59:53.
