Hailey’s Campion Ice House hosts its first men’s ice hockey game of the 2019-20 season when the Boise State University men’s hockey club skates against Montana State Bobcats Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Sun Valley Youth Hockey alums Brandon Benson and Dylan Broman are members of the BSU team that opened its 36-game regular season Sept. 21 with a 3-0 win at Western Washington University.

Tickets for the Oct. 18 game are $10 adults, $5 for teens ages 13-17 and college students with identifications, and free for seniors 65-and-older, kids 12-and-under and 17-and-under wearing youth jerseys.

Benson is a 5-10, 175-pound defenseman and Broman is a 5-11, 150-pound forward for Boise State, which has debuted its season with a 5-5 record. Benson (1 goal, 7 assists) was the third-leading scorer through eight games.

Last weekend, Boise State competed in the six-team, 12-game University of Mary Icebreaker Showcase tournament at the Schwan Cadillac Rink inside Starion Sports Complex in Mandan, North Dakota.     The BSU skaters went 2-2 over four days—losing 3-1 Friday to eventual champion University of Mary and 3-2 Sunday to two-time defending ACHA Division 2 national champion Florida Gulf Coast.     Boise State, led by top scorer Eric Pinsky of San Jose, Ca. (13 goals in 8 games), won 7-2 Saturday over University of Northern Colorado and 6-3 Monday over Eastern Washington University.

Next Broncos game is Oct. 18 in Hailey, followed by another game against Montana State on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in CenturyLink Arena, Boise. BSU home games are planned for CenturyLink and Idaho Ice World during the season.

Boise State is a member of the Pac-8 Hockey Conference of the American Collegiate Hockey Association competing at the ACHA Division 2 level.

Last year, Boise State ended its regular season with a 24-7-1 record but dropped two tournament games while dealing with injuries. Brandon Benson was among five Broncos earning all-conference honors.
