Five members of Sun Valley 5B swim team captured individual high point awards during the 2019 Elko High Altitude Invitational, a USA Swimming sanctioned competition conducted June 29-30 in Nevada.

The annual high desert showdown, a short-course meter competition, brought 10 Snake River Swimming teams together from northern Nevada and south-central Idaho.

SV5B high point winners were Bella Tognoni, Cookie Cook, Tatum Ware, Carlos Orihuela and Ethan Hansen. Coach Brian Gallagher accompanied his swimmers to Elko.

Gallagher continues to train the 5B squad weekday mornings at Elkhorn’s Harker Pool.

SV5B finishes the summer of 2019 with two more Snake River Swimming meets.

They are the Treasure Valley Last Chance Long-Course Meter Invitational July 6-7 in Boise, and Snake River Swimming Summer Championships July 19-22 in Twin Falls.

Gallagher announced the following results from Elko:

Women 11-12: Bella Tognoni who placed first in all eight of her events: 100 free, 100 breast, 50 breast, 200 IM, 50 fly, 100 back, 25 back and 200 breast.

Joining her as a high point winner was Cookie Cook, first in three of her eight events—200 free, 100 IM and 25 fly. Cook was second in 50 free, 50 breast and 50 fly, and fourth in 100 free and 100 back.

Women 13-14: Tatum Ware placed first in two of her seven events—200 back and 25 back. She took second in 50 free, third 50 back, 100 back and 100 IM, and fourth in 100 free.

Men 11-12: Carlos Orihuela won four of his eight events—25 fly, 50 back, 50 fly and 25 breast. He placed second in 50 free, 100 back, 100 free and 100 IM.

Men 13-14: Ethan Hansen won seven of his eight events—100 IM, 50 back, 50 breast, 50 fly, 100 back, 25 breast and 50 free. He took second in 100 free.
