Sun Valley Community School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams pretty much had their way with the Bliss Bears Tuesday in High Desert Soccer Conference clashes at Dumke Family Community School Sagewillow campus, Elkhorn.

Coach Richard Whitelaw’s reigning State 3A champion Cutthroat boys (2-1-0, 2-0-0 HDSC) whipped Bliss 6-2 with seniors Cash Dart, Ridley Lindstrom and Fletcher Stumph scoring two goals.

“Men of the Match” were forwards Dart and Lindstrom and midfielder Stumph.

Coach Kelly Feldman’s Cutthroat girls (2-0-1, 2-0-0 HDSC) stretched their unbeaten home streak to 41 games 12-0 over Bliss Bears (0-2).

Juniors Aubrey Duffield and Christine Estep each scored three-goal hat tricks for the home team. Adding two goals apiece were senior Chloe Tanous along with juniors Caroline Estep and Marit Kaiser.

“Player of the Game” was junior Rylee Whorton.

On Thursday, the Cutthroat girls traveled to Kimberly for a rematch of last fall’s HDSC tournament title game won by SVCS 8-1. Last year the Cutthroats handled Kimberly by 4-0, 6-1 and 8-1 scores.

Thursday’s rematch was likely to be closer because Kimberly (4-0, 3-0-0 HDSC) cracked open its 2019 season with a 23-7 scoring advantage in three lopsided wins. The Kimberly boys were 0-2-1 (0-1-1 HDSC) after Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw with Wendell.
