Carey High School’s Felicity Black, strong at the net during last October’s Sawtooth Con-ference tournament in Shoshone, is one of four seniors on this year’s Panther varsity volleyball team.

Reigning Sawtooth Confer-ence tournament champ Carey High School lost plenty from its 2018 varsity volleyball squad that went 21-5 and earned its first league tournament title in 20 years for coach Kathy Whit-worth.

Second-team All-State player Shantell Chavez along with mainstays Athana Versis, Kodi Green and Lindsey Morey all graduated for Carey.

But the Panthers bring plenty of talent back to the court led by All-State honor-able mention Kylie Wood, one of six juniors along with four returning seniors.

Carey cracks open its cam-paign for another State 1A Di-vision 2 tourney berth when the Panthers host Mackay and Hagerman Tuesday, Sept. 3, followed by a home tri-match

with Shoshone and perennial power Lighthouse C

hristian of Twin Falls Thursday.
