Hunter Morgan Hertel, 27, was born on June 9, 1991, in Sun Valley, Idaho, to David Hertel and Lisa Laajala and entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2019, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Hunter loved spending time outdoors snowboarding, hiking in the mountains and playing and surfing at the beach and camping. He was a natural athlete who played many team sports, including football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey and lacrosse. Wherever he went, he took music. He was generous and enjoyed spending time with friends joking around and being together. His smile radiated genuine warmth; he was full of love and not afraid to express it to those around him.

While he expressed his creativity through drawing, writing, videoing on his iPhone and even crocheting, his creativity was most apparent in his vibrant sense of humor. He enjoyed making those around him laugh all the time. Hunter faced many challenges throughout his life, including Type 1 diabetes, which he managed with great resolve for more than 17 years.

Hunter leaves behind his loving family: his father, David Hertel of Idaho; mother, Lisa Laajala of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Serena Hertel of Los Angeles, Calif.; and grandparents on both sides of his family.
