Gary Charles Holt was born in Abilene, Kan., on April 12, 1950, and passed away on Sept. 23, 2019, at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Seely Holt; his father, W. Eyler Holt; and his sister, Geraldine Holt Kohman.  He is survived by a brother, Walter Holt, of Abilene, Kan.

Gary graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1972 and another bachelor’s degree in education in 1974. He moved to Missoula, Mont., in 1977. He began his antiques business, The Gary Holt Collection, soon thereafter, and participated in antiques shows in Ketchum and elsewhere for more than 30 years.

In 2014 Gary moved to Picabo. That same year he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. For the next five years he was under the care of Dr. Donald Levin and Dr. Jared Manning. In addition to his appreciation for the many kindnesses shown to him during his years in the Wood River Valley, Gary wanted to let both Dr. Levin and Dr. Manning know he was indebted to them for their efforts to give him additional quality-of-life years. Gary was grateful, too, to the wonderful nursing care he received both at the Ketchum hospital and at St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute in Twin Falls.
