Hailey resident Mike McKenna was appointed to the Hailey Tree Committee on Monday, following former board member Nelson Mills’ resignation in 2019.
McKenna, an author who currently serves as executive director of the Valley Chamber, first began working in Hailey as a tree-farm employee and has planted several evergreens throughout the valley.
“Nearly 25 years later, it still gives me great joy to see these trees thriving, from the entrance to Bellevue to the streets of Hailey,” he wrote in an application.
Councilman Juan Martinez said he appreciated McKenna’s willingness to serve on the committee.
“I’m excited to see what you guys produce,” he said.
