Traveling to and from the Wood River Valley will be easier this winter, with an improved schedule of flights, featuring more flights from Seattle and Chicago.
The nonprofit Fly Sun Valley Alliance, in partnership with Sun Valley Resort, has announced the Friedman Memorial Airport airline flight schedule for the upcoming winter season. According to Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Alaska Airlines has increased its service to two daily nonstop flights from Seattle during the holidays, Dec. 19 through Jan. 5, and will also offer two daily nonstop flights three days a week on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from Feb. 12 through March 22. From Chicago, United will expand its nonstop service to run daily during the holidays, Dec. 19 through Jan. 5, then weekly on Saturdays throughout the rest of the season, Jan. 11 through March 28.
In addition to its Chicago flights, United will offer daily nonstop flights from Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco from Dec. 19 through March 29.
Delta Air Lines, which serves Sun Valley year-round, will once again offer three daily nonstop flights to its Salt Lake City hub during the core winter season, offering connections to a multitude of cities. Delta will also offer a daily nonstop flight from Los Angeles from Dec. 21 to Jan. 5.
Fly Sun Valley Alliance Director Carol Waller said the opportunities provided by Sun Valley Resort’s new EPIC pass partnership are a major factor in increasing the air service level from key markets.
The total number of scheduled winter 2019-20 Sun Valley flights is 996, up from 962 flights last winter.
