Following Susan Robertson’s appointment as the new director of human resources and assistant city manager in Augusta, Maine, the city administrator position in Sun Valley is vacant.
During her six years in office—from January 2013 to Aug. 2, 2019—Robertson oversaw the Administrative Department’s annual budget. She also provided recommendations to the City Council, helped increase the number of annual vacation days from 10 to 15 for new hires and tightened financial controls after former Sun Valley Treasurer Angela Orr was imprisoned for stealing $128,000 from the city.
Robinson’s successor will be selected from the pool of applications by Mayor Peter Hendricks, City Clerk Nancy Flannigan said. She added that the city has already hired Prothman, an executive search firm based in Washington state, for recruitment.
The city administrator salary is listed at $122,670 to $148,790 plus benefits.
With an annual budget of $1 million, the Sun Valley Administrative Department manages city attorney services, IT funding and City Hall building functions.
An application deadline has been set for Sept. 22. According to the Prothman-issued job description, candidates must have eight years of local government administrative experience.
