The summer season for the Sun Valley Resort begins in earnest this weekend, and the River Run side of Baldy will be the center of the action.
The resort is hosting Outerbike, one of the premier bike demo events in the U.S., from Friday through Sunday at the River Run base. Outerbike offers participants the chance to test the top bike models from dozens of vendors on Sun Valley’s mountain bike courses.
The resort will begin operating the Roundhouse Express gondola for the summer season starting Friday at 9 a.m. The gondola offers lift-accessed mountain biking, hiking and access to the Roundhouse restaurant for dining.
The resort has plenty happening outside of River Run, too. The golf courses, tennis courts, stables, lake, gun club and ice rink will also be open for the summer, according to a news release.
The Wood River Farmers’ Market will be open every Tuesday at the River Run lower parking lot from 2-6 p.m. The market will operate until Oct. 8.
The season for Sun Valley on Ice begins July 4 and will run through Aug. 31.
The Sun Valley Pavilion and River Run will host a series of musical performances, including a sold-out show by Michael Franti and Spearhead as well as Ziggy Marley on June 24, which is part of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts’ summer Concert Series. On Tuesday, Three Dog Night will play at the Pavilion.
Other concerts include performances by Granger Smith, Killer Queen and Jackson Browne. The San Francisco Ballet will be at the Sun Valley Pavilion on July 5 and July 7, while the Sun Valley Music Festival (previously called the Sun Valley Summer Symphony) starts its programming on July 29. The concert series runs until Aug. 22.
