Fresh from a stint in Europe, the world-renowned San Francisco Ballet is returning to the Sun Valley Pavilion this weekend for the first time in seven years.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson and presented by Ballet Sun Valley, the troupe will present two distinct performances and a plethora of educational outreach programs.

On Friday, July 5, the company will stage a gala-style program featuring seven dances. The program spans centuries of musical history, stretching as far back as 1726 and including new compositions as recent as 2019.

The second performance, set for Sunday, July 7, will showcase dances from the San Francisco Ballet’s 2018 “Unbound” festival. Speaking of the pieces in this second program, prima ballerina Sasha de Sola said, “They’ve only been seen by a handful of people, and we’re excited to bring them to Sun Valley.”

In addition to the performances, Tomasson and de Sola will each host a free program at The Community Library on Saturday morning. Visit for details.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for both performances at the Sun Valley Pavilion. Some tickets are still available and can be purchased at
