Sun Valley Resort mountain crews give Mother Nature a head start on Monday, Oct. 28, as cold temperatures and cranked snow guns converge to cover Dollar Mountain in piles of white. Bald Mountain, peeking here under the spray, still has some natural snow left over from early October storms, but the resort is helping it along, too. Its system has been on for a week now, blasting a skiable strip down River Run and working on the Warm Springs side, as well. As of Monday, it’s inside a month until the ski season officially begins; lifts open Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.
