06-12-20 Baldy skiing and boarding 2

Sun Valley’s 2019-20 ski passes go on sale Friday, March 1, and skiers and snowboarders will have more options than ever to ride the resort next year. But those who want full access to Baldy still need to pay up—and do it early.

The resort announced its full suite of options Wednesday night, including its all-access flagship Challenger pass. For adults 30 and up buying before May 31, the unlimited Challenger Pass costs $1,799—$100 less than during the same period of time last year, according to Sun Valley Spokeswoman Kelli Lusk.

“There’s no huge increases in any of our passes, but we’re really rewarding people for buying early this year,” Lusk said.

For next season, Sun Valley will partner with Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass. All Sun Valley unlimited passes will get half off the daily window rate at the 60-plus resorts that participate in the Epic Pass.

Those include the Challenger; Young Adult Challenger, $1,099 for those 29 or under at the time of purchase; the Child Challenger, $599 for children 12 and under; and the College Season Pass, $389 for current full-time students between the ages of 18 and 29.

Epic Pass-holders will get seven days at both Sun Valley and it sister resort Snowbasin with no blackout dates; the Epic 7-Day and 4-Day Passes will include the two areas; and, the lower price Epic Local Pass will include two days at each resort with some date restrictions. Once the included days are spent, passholders get 50 percent off the ticket-window price.

For next season, Sun Valley is also strengthening ties with Snowbasin by offering the Sun and Snow Pass for those that want to hit both the Ketchum and Ogden, Utah areas. Between now and May 31, adults pay $359 and children pay $89 for three days at each resort, plus half-off the window rate thereafter with no blackout dates. And, for those who buy an adult pass during the spring period, an accompanying child pass costs just $19.

For the best deal, buy early. This year’s full-price Challenger pass costs an adult over 30 $2,250 between June 1 and Sept. 2—$50 more than last year—and $2,475 when bought anytime thereafter, a $25 increase.

For those who spend fewer days on the hill—or just want to cruise Dollar—Sun Valley has a full range of passes available, too. Here’s a rundown of everything it offers, and what each buys for 2019-20.
