Sun Valley Resort plans to open the Warm Springs side of Bald Mountain this weekend, with both the day lodge and Challenger chairlift accepting skiers Saturday morning. That will add another access point to the mountain as the resort hopes to build on early-season snow and a strong opening weekend; even without Dollar Mountain, skier counts were up 17 percent over 2018 to start the year, according to Sun Valley spokeswoman Kelli Lusk. Along with Warm Springs, Sun Valley will also run the Roundhouse Gondola for weekend skiers, and start serving lunch at the Roundhouse restaurant. Dinner there, as well as opening day for Dollar, are scheduled for a week from today, on Friday, Dec. 13.
