A Ketchum father is dead after a car jack failed to support his SUV over the weekend, according to the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office.
Jhon Miguel Lopez-Macha, 37, was accidentally crushed by his 1993 Ford Explorer while working underneath the car on Andora Lane in Ketchum on Sunday afternoon. City fire and police responded to reports of a man pinned under a vehicle just past 4:40 p.m., according to Sheriff Steve Harkins and Ketchum Assistant City Administrator Lisa Enourato.
Lopez-Macha was transferred to St. Luke’s Wood River, where he was pronounced dead later in the day.
Macha leaves behind a wife, Kathy, and a daughter, Madisson, a first-grader at Ernest Hemingway STEAM School. A wake was held Monday night at the Wood River Chapel in Hailey. Another is scheduled for tonight, Nov. 12, from 7-10 p.m. at the chapel.
