The city of Ketchum is hosting Dock Dogs this weekend, which will offer dog owners a chance to showcase their animals’ athletic prowess.
The event will be held on Washington Avenue between Forest Service Park and the Limelight Hotel on July 5-6.
On Friday at 4 p.m., registration opens and the event will offer some practice rounds. The first contest will kick off at 5 p.m. and feature the “extreme vertical challenge,” which is essentially a high-jump contest, according to a city news release.
It will continue Saturday at 10 a.m. with the first round of dock jumping. The event rolls on with a speed retrieve contest at 2:30 p.m. After that, the finals of the dock jumping event will be held.
The contests are open to dogs of any size or breed, but they must be at least 6 months old.
“This was an amazing event last year and very appropriate for our dog-loving town,” Mayor Neil Bradshaw said in the news release. “This event is about broadening our mix of entertainment options for families, connecting as a community and giving everyone a reason to smile.”
Participants can register before the event on Friday, and on Saturday morning before the day’s events begin.
A free concert will be offered in Forest Service Park on Saturday evening featuring Tylor and the Train Robbers.
