The city of Ketchum will bid farewell to its 1987 Sutphen-brand ladder truck at a 12:30 p.m. donation ceremony on Friday, Jan. 10.
The truck will be transferred to Care Convoy, a Jerome-based division of the Global Peace Partners Inc. nonprofit organization.
Care Convoy provides yearly shipments of medical, fire, rescue and humanitarian supplies to less-fortunate fire and EMS services worldwide. Recently, the organization shipped emergency-response equipment to Mexico, Colombia, Liberia and Ghana.
The 1987 truck, according to a city staff report, will likely go to either Baja California or Tamaulipas in Mexico. In 2019, Ketchum replaced the vehicle with a new $959,000 Pierce Ascendant aerial-tower truck.
