A Sun Valley man was critically injured in a skiing accident on Bald Mountain on Dec. 28 and required air transportation to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, but he was discharged on Monday.
River Curtis, 22, crashed while skiing in the Christmas Bowl area of Baldy and injured his neck. The Sun Valley Ski Patrol responded at about 1:15 p.m. and transported him to the bottom of River Run, where Ketchum Fire Department EMS responders took him to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, Sun Valley Resort spokeswoman Kelli Lusk stated in an email Thursday.
Curtis was listed in critical condition at Saint Alphonsus on Saturday afternoon, but was discharged on Monday, hospital spokesman Mark Snider said.
Curtis’ mother, Sarah, wrote in a Facebook post Saturday that he suffered a compression fracture that did not require surgery, and the hospital was monitoring him. On Monday, she posted a video of him walking around the hospital prior to his discharge.
