After more than a decade, St. Luke’s Wood River will have a full-time pediatrician on staff beginning later this month.
Dr. Katie Quayle plans to join the hospital’s Hailey Clinic on Oct. 22, where she’ll see patients, as well as consult with other family-medicine providers. Quayle will also work as needed with pediatric inpatients at the main hospital near Ketchum.
“My philosophy as a pediatrician is to take care of the whole child, because where kids live, their families, as well as their diet and interests, all contribute to their health,” she said in a news release. “Getting to know each child individually helps me take better care of them.”
A Massachusetts native, Quayle graduated from Williams College and earned her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Then, she moved west for a residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Since 2016, she’s worked as a general pediatrician at Southridge Pediatrics in Riverton, Utah, south of the city.
As a physician, Quayle takes special interest in preventative care, mental health and working with adolescents.
“I think well-child checks are important to help keep kids healthy, as well as to keep track of their growth and development,” she said. “As more and more children are struggling with mental health, pediatricians have an important role in taking care of kids’ emotional health, too.”
Quayle will begin seeing patients the week of Oct. 22 at the St. Luke’s Clinic—Family Medicine in Hailey. For more information, or to schedule and appointment, call (208) 788-3434, or visit stlukesonline.org.
