After 40 years of service, Fairfield District Ranger Mike Dettori plans to retire on Jan. 3.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Dettori has been the district ranger for 15 years, beginning in May 2004.
Previously, he served as resource assistant in the Livingston Ranger District in Montana and as ranger specialist on districts in Utah, the Challis National Forest and the Big Summit Ranger District in Oregon. He also served as Logistics Section chief for an incident management team for most of his career.
The soon-to-be vacated position will be advertised and filled when a candidate has been chosen. Until then, Forest Engineer Shawn Robnett will serve as acting district ranger.
