Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, will be in the Wood River Valley for a fundraising event on Monday, Aug. 5.
Biden, the former vice president, is vying for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 to challenge President Donald Trump.
Biden will be at the home of Melinda and Alan Blinken, north of Ketchum. Alan Blinken is a former U.S. ambassador to Belgium and is a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party nationally and in Idaho.
Biden’s fundraiser costs $2,800 per attendee to attend, according to an invitation.
U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., will host a fundraising reception and dinner at the Gail Severn Gallery in Ketchum on Saturday, July 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The fundraiser supports Common Ground, which will help Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate protect their seats or win Republican-held seats. The fund also supports Democratic members of the House of Representatives from Virginia.
“While most energy is currently focused on the presidential election, Sen. Kaine is focused on the Senate,” an invitation to the event states. “Even if we take back the presidency, we will not be able to get nominees and judges through if we do not take back the Senate.”
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, who is running against Biden and a host of other candidates for the Democratic nomination in 2020, held a fundraiser in Ketchum on July 21.
