Blaine County School District Superintendent GwenCarol Holmes will host a pair of open forums this week designed to provide updates, gather input and answer questions from parents about the state of this district’s eight public schools.
The first “Community Conversation” will be held in Spanish with English translation at Alturas Elementary School in Hailey starting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 2. The second will take place on Thursday, April 4, at 6:00 p.m. in Wood River Middle School in Hailey. That will be conducted in English, with Spanish interpretation.
“It’s our annual effort to provide an opportunity for anyone to learn about the focus of our district, and meet with district leadership,” said Director of Communications Heather Crocker. “We try to keep the presentation short, so the audience can ask any questions they might have.”
First, though, parents will answer a pair posed by the district: “What is working well for your student?” And, “What can we [the BCSD] do to improve the support provided to your student?”
To sweeten the deal, door prizes will go to the first 10 attendees at each meeting.
These sessions are the middle two of four scheduled sessions. The district previously held the first at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, and plans to hold a private meeting at Power Engineers in Hailey later this spring. But, according to Crocker, it’s open to adding more.
“We’d be happy to go anywhere we might have an audience,” she said.
