The Idaho Transportation Department and local law enforcement authorities across the state are partnering in an effort to get drunk drivers off the roads.

The program began last Friday and is scheduled to run through Sept. 4, with officers conducting additional patrols to reduce drunk driving.

The effort comes as the “100 Deadliest Days of Driving” conclude Labor Day weekend. The 100 days began on Memorial Day weekend and mark the term in which there is often a spike in traffic fatalities nationwide.
