The Blaine County commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to restart litigation proceedings against the Flying Heart home owners association to enforce a requirement that parking be allowed on Aspen Lakes Drive for public access to the Big Wood River.
“This is a new situation,” said Commissioner Dick Fosbury. “I have never seen a private road anywhere in Blaine County that didn’t allow public parking on the side of the road.”
Despite that, signs posted on private property in the development say otherwise, and at least one car has been towed from Aspen Lakes Drive, causing a public outcry last month.
The county ordered that the two signs be removed and that two parking sites must be identified, but the commission was rebuffed. Flying Heart home owners association representatives failed to appear on Tuesday at a meeting of the Blaine County Commission, as requested.
“So far, we are not being heard,” Fosbury said.
