Blaine County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday on U.S. Highway 20 west of Moonstone Landing that involved one sole occupant and resulted in severe injuries and transportation by air ambulance.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Riley O. Martin, 27, of Boise, was traveling westbound when, according to witnesses, suddenly swerved, causing his 1996 Toyota 4Runner to leave the roadway and roll approximately two times. The vehicle came to rest on its top on the north side of the roadway.
Martin sustained serious injuries in the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he has since been released, according to a spokesperson from the hospital.
“During the investigation of the crash, deputies observed beer cans and an alcohol container in the vehicle and near where the vehicle came to a rest,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.
Martin was wearing a seatbelt. The Sheriff’s Office is waiting for toxicology results.
