A Ketchum woman now faces a single misdemeanor DUI charge after the prosecution dismissed a felony charge of domestic battery in September, according to court records.
Katherine A. Brown, 26, was originally charged with the felony offense after Ketchum division deputies responded to a possible domestic battery at the Crestview Apartments around 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 7, according to a probable-cause affidavit written by Blaine County Sheriff’s Office-Ketchum Division Deputy Allen Compton.
Once on scene, Compton made contact with Brown, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta pulling out of a parking spot, while under the influence of alcohol, the affidavit states. Brown said a man had hit her and put his arms around her neck trying to choke her. Officers noted no visible marks on her neck, the report states.
They made contact with the man, who claimed Brown punched him in the face and was throwing bottles at him, hitting him over the back of the head with one and hitting him in the face multiple times, the affidavit states. The victim had multiple cuts and scratches on his head, face and neck.
For the misdemeanor DUI charge, Brown is scheduled for a pretrial conference in December.
