A former Carey school bus driver pleaded guilty on Friday to misdemeanor reckless driving in connection with an April 18 bus crash that sent 12 students to hospitals.

Richard Mecham, 67, was at the wheel of a school bus carrying 39 students when it overturned on U.S. Highway 26 near Richfield. Charges were filed in Lincoln County 5th District Court in Shoshone on June 19, and Mecham appeared in court on June 20 for an initial appearance, online court records state.
