According to the Idaho State Police, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday between Fish Creek Reservoir Road and Lava Lake Road near Carey.
The single occupant of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Lawana Knox, 80, of Challis, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 20 when she went off the shoulder, down an embankment and collided with lava rocks. Knox was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
While at the hospital, Knox succumbed to her injuries, ISP reported. According to ISP, Knox was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
