Sun Valley Economic Development will host economist Ralf Garrison this week for two talks devoted to Sun Valley’s competitive landscape as a mountain resort destination.
The first talk will be today, April 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the Limelight Hotel in Ketchum. The second will be on Thursday, April 11, from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Ketchum Innovation Center.
Visit Sun Valley has contracted with Garrison and his Colorado-based firm, the Advisory Group, to review data and economic indicators. Garrison’s presentation will analyze how Sun Valley compares with similar mountain resorts, and review “the structural, financial and strategic realities” faced by the resorts, according to SVED.
“The resulting report has revealed new information and suggests several potential challenges and opportunities facing the Sun Valley tourism-based economy in the immediate and long-term future,” SVED reported. “Visit Sun Valley is now collaborating with Sun Valley Economic Development to gather input from other interested parties in the Sun Valley area before taking final action.”
