The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Wood River Valley is partnering with the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley and Flourish Foundation to host “Mindfulness With Furry Friends” every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
People can walk a dog or snuggle up with a cat midweek before work, during their lunch break or after school.
“Pats and purrs are a sure way to uplift one’s spirit,” NAMI stated in a news release. “Experience first-hand how the animals at the shelter benefit from your attention and love.”
The organization also urged people to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 11, by spending time with the animals at the shelter.
“Socializing with the cats and dogs is the ideal way for you to share more love this Valentine’s Day week,” the organization stated.
