Idaho Power is scheduled to start rebuilding a 2-mile portion of a transmission line near Carey today, Sept. 25, the company said in a press release.
The segment, which runs through the hills north of U.S. Highway 20, delivers power to Hailey.
Work is expected to continue until the end of October, according to company spokesman Sven Berg. The construction uses “implosive devices” to connect the wires to the insulators, which can sound like explosions, Berg said.
“The section of line is at high elevations between Picabo and Carey … and far from major roads, homes and businesses,” Berg said in a statement. “As with all projects, Idaho Power will follow safety procedures to protect workers, the public and the land.”
