In its fourth annual Sun Valley residency, Ice Dance International will rehearse a new piece of repertory created by dance luminary Trey McIntyre. The repertory will be filmed on Sept. 24 after dusk for Ice Dance International’s second public television special, to be distributed by American Public Television for an April release.

The ice dance company’s first special, “The World of Ice Dance International” Part 1 premiered on PBS in April and has aired 262 times, including on Idaho Public Television on June 5.

Additional works by Ice Dance International Artistic Director Douglas Webster and contemporary skating choreographer Benoit Richaud will be featured in “The World of Ice Dance International” Part 2. All but one of the additional pieces were created in Sun Valley and filmed there in September 2017.

The public can attend a workshop performance of Ice Dance International’s new Trey McIntyre piece (in costume) at the indoor rink at Sun Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, available at icedanceinternational.org or at the door.

All Ice Dance International rehearsals are free and open to the public. Many rehearsals occur on the outdoor rink in the mornings and late afternoons. Company edge class is at 9 a.m. and a great way to see the company in action. Company class is also free and open to advanced skaters.

During its time in Sun Valley, Ice Dance International will collaborate with Higher Ground for its third annual skating program for youth and adults with special needs. The program is scheduled for today, Sept. 21, from 11:30-12:30 p.m. for adults and Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for children, at the outdoor rink at the Sun Valley Skating Center.
