Hailey’s annual Fourth of July parade and celebration is one of the biggest events in the Wood River Valley and is considered one the best hometown Independence Day celebrations anywhere in the U.S. This year’s Fourth of July Days of the Old West Parade theme is “Stars & Stripes Forever.”
The Fourth of July Committee has announced that Tom Hanson will be the grand marshal for the 2018 parade.
“We hope that participants get creative, show their patriotic spirit and have some fun with it,” the chamber of commerce said in an announcement. “Last year’s event drew over 10,000 spectators sitting, standing and dancing.”
Floats, wagons, bikes, vehicles and people are still needed from businesses, community groups and residents to be entrants in the parade. Applications are available online or at the chamber office in the Welcome Center.
The parade will start at noon on Wednesday, July 4, on Main Street in Hailey. There will be prizes for first, second and third in five separate categories. Early, discounted entries ($25) must be turned in by June 15. Entrants registering on or after June 15 will pay $45. For more information and a parade packet, contact the chamber office at (208) 788-3484 or visit their website, www.valleychamber.org, to register online.
