The staff of the Idaho Mountain Express collected 49 awards for excellence in journalism Saturday night at the Idaho Press Club’s annual awards banquet in Boise, including the top award for overall excellence among non-daily newspapers in the state.
The club—the primary press association in Idaho—awarded the Express first place in the General Excellence category, which judges newspapers on facets including writing, originality, viewer interest and enterprise.
The Express also won the Pinnacle Award for non-daily newspapers. The Pinnacle Award is given to newspapers and television stations that have the highest number of winning entries in their respective category.
The club’s Best of 2018 awards recognized excellence in print, television, periodical, public relations and radio journalism done throughout the state in 2018. Express staff members earned awards for news reporting, feature writing, editorial writing, photography, columns, page design, special sections, sports reporting, arts reporting, graphics and the newspaper website.
