City councils in Sun Valley and Bellevue have passed budgets that are now available for public review.

The Sun Valley City Council has a $16.5 million budget for fiscal 2020 ready for a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 1. The council will hold a public hearing on the first reading of the budget that day. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at City Hall. The council also has special meetings set to approve the budget on Aug. 6 and Aug. 12. The budget requires three readings to be approved; it will take effect on Oct. 1.

After a three-hour Bellevue City Council meeting Monday night, the city has a balanced, albeit frugal, budget to present to its citizens in a few weeks. The cuts were drastic, with each department having to either decrease or eliminate spending in areas that include employee training, maintenance, operations and equipment purchases.

The final proposed city budget passed by the council is $4,015,052.

A public hearing for Bellevue residents to voice comments on the budget is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12. The full city budget is available on the city’s website,
