The Blaine County School District began a program offering free tickets to local seniors on Monday.
Anyone over 60 years old is eligible to apply for the new, free Gold Card, which grants entry into most sporting events, as well as invitations to concerts and plays. Those interested can apply in person at the district office, at 118 W. Bullion St. in Hailey, or online via www.blaineschools.org.
The card is part of an ongoing push to engage more residents with schools—particularly those who are less likely to have students in the district. Early returns are good: Some 30 people applied in the first 24 hours after the roll-out, according to Director of Communications Heather Crocker.
“The community is hungry for this kind of connection to our schools,” Crocker said.
