The Association of Air Medical Services has awarded Air St. Luke’s Maternal Child (MatCh) team the 2019 Neonatal & Pediatric Transport Award of Excellence for “enhancing safety, leadership, and developing or promoting the improvement of patient care in the medical transport community,” according to a news release from St. Luke’s.

“Winning this award validates the excellent work performed by the Air St. Luke’s MatCh team,” said Air St. Luke’s Medical Director for the MatCh team Dr. Rourke Yeakley.

The air team’s unique equipment designs allow for seamless transport between airplane, helicopter and ground ambulances, creating faster response times. The MatCh team is based in Boise but has the capacity to make transports throughout Idaho, included in the Wood River Valley.

According to MatCh Respiratory Therapist Darra Franz, the MatCh team made 17 transports from St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center between Oct. 2018 and Sept. 2019.

The team also has the capability to fly to other larger, more specialized hospitals beyond Idaho such as those in Seattle, Wash. and Salt Lake City, UT.
