Two meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Pocatello will present “Weather in Idaho” at the Hailey Public Library today, May 4, at 5 p.m. The presentation is sponsored by the Environmental Resource Center as part of its Spring Science Series.
The Spring Science Series is associated with the Spring Exploration Series, a program that brings experts from various scientific fields to all second- and third-grade students in Blaine County.
“We’re bringing all these great people into the valley to talk to the kids, so we thought, ‘Why not have them do a public presentation?’” said ERC Executive Director Hadley DeBree. “The cool thing about the Spring Science Series is that all the presentations have to be really engaging and hands-on because they’re designed for second- and third-graders.”
Next Wednesday, May 11, at 6 p.m., the ERC will bring raptor specialists Mike Garets and Joe Fodor to the Community Library in Ketchum with some live education birds.
“Last year they brought a little screech owl named Winston and an eagle that belongs to Mike Garets,” DeBree said.
Spring Science Series presentations are free and open to the public.
